Dentistry thatfeelsgentlefrom the first visit.

Sanjivani Dental Clinic sits on the Thankot stretch of Chandragiri — a short ride from Kalanki, Naikap and Satungal. We examine first, explain second, and only then talk about treatment.

About the clinic

A neighbourhood clinic, run to hospital standards.

Sanjivani Dental Clinic serves Thankot and the wider Chandragiri Municipality — families, students from the surrounding schools, drivers on the Tribhuvan Highway, and anyone in Kathmandu who would rather not queue at a city hospital for a filling.

  • A dentist at work in a treatment room
  • A bright dental treatment room with the chair and worktop laid out
  • Dental radiographs of a lower molar held up against a light box
  • A dentist pointing out findings on a panoramic X-ray to a seated patient
  • Two dental chairs in a daylit surgery
  • Bamboo toothbrushes in a glass jar beside a sprig of eucalyptus

Everything happens in one place: the examination, the digital X-ray, the root canal, the crown and the follow-up. You are not sent across the valley between appointments, and you see the same people each time you come back.

“Most people who avoid the dentist are not afraid of teeth. They are afraid of being surprised.”

So we removed the surprises: what we find, what it will cost, and how long it takes are all on the table before anything starts.

  • 01

We examine and explain before we ever pick up a drill.

  • 02

Instruments are autoclaved between every single patient.

  • 03

You hear the cost — and the alternatives — before you agree.

  • 04

Nobody is talked into treatment they do not need.

Inside the clinic

The instruments, and how they are kept.

  • Examination

Mirror and explorer — the first two minutes of every visit, before anything is decided.

  • Sterilisation

Instruments are pouched and run through a full steam cycle between every patient.

  • Ultrasonic scaling

Removes hardened deposits at the gum line without scraping away enamel.

  • Digital imaging

Radiographs on screen in seconds, at a fraction of conventional film dosage.

  • Composite work

Tooth-coloured filling material set in layers and cured to full hardness.

  • Impressions

Accurate arch impressions — the starting point for every crown, bridge and denture.

  • Laboratory

Study models and prosthetic work checked against your bite before fitting.

  • Gum charting

Pocket depths recorded around each tooth so gum disease is caught early.

How your visit works

Five steps, and no unpleasant surprises in any of them.

The whole process is designed around one idea: you should always know what is happening to your own mouth, and why.

  1. You call or book online

Tell us roughly what is wrong — a dull ache, a broken filling, or nothing at all and it is simply time for a check-up. We give you a slot that suits your day, not just ours.

    Takes two minutes

  2. We examine and image

A full look at every tooth, the gums and the bite, plus a digital X-ray where it is needed. The image goes on screen so you can see the problem yourself rather than take our word for it.

    First visit, 20–30 minutes

  3. We explain the options

Usually there is more than one way forward. We lay out each one — what it involves, how long it lasts, what it costs — and we tell you honestly if doing nothing yet is a reasonable choice.

    No obligation to proceed

  4. Treatment, at your pace

Numbed properly, checked often, and stopped the moment you raise a hand. Longer treatments are split across visits so you are never in the chair beyond what is comfortable.

    Same clinic, same team

  5. Follow-up and prevention

We check the work has settled, show you what caused the problem in the first place, and set a recall so the next visit is a ten-minute check rather than another repair.

    Recall every six months

Why patients come back

Six reasons people send their family here.

None of them are about equipment. They are about how it feels to sit in the chair.

  • 01

    Sterilisation you can watch

Instruments are scrubbed, pouched and autoclaved between every patient. Ask to see the cycle indicator — we would rather you did.

  • 02

    Costs on the table first

You are told the price of each option before treatment begins, including the cheaper one. No item appears on the bill that you had not already agreed to.

  • 03

    Genuinely gentle

Proper anaesthesia, unhurried appointments, and a hand signal that stops everything instantly. Nervous patients are given longer slots at no extra cost.

  • 04

    Good with children

Short first visits with nothing done except counting teeth. The aim is a child who is bored by the dentist rather than frightened of one.

  • 05

    Open six days

Sunday through Friday, with Saturday kept for emergencies and prior appointments — so a toothache does not have to wait for the week to start.

  • 06

    Local, and staying local

We live and work in Chandragiri. Our reputation here is built one neighbour at a time, which is a strong incentive to do the job properly.

Dental emergency

Severe pain, swelling or a knocked-out tooth?

Call before you travel. A knocked-out adult tooth can often be saved if it reaches us within the hour — keep it in milk, hold it by the crown, and ring on the way.

Common questions

The things people ask before booking.

If yours is not here, phone the clinic — we would rather answer it now than have you put off the visit.

  • Walk-ins are welcome and we will always try to see you, but booking ahead means far less waiting. For emergencies, call first on 9868456929 so we can prepare before you arrive.

  • The pain you arrive with is almost always worse than the treatment. The tooth is fully numbed before we begin, and most patients describe it as no different from having a filling done.

  • We tell you the cost before we start, not after. Fees depend on what the tooth actually needs, so we examine first, explain the options at different price points, and let you decide.

  • Once every six months for most people. If you smoke, have gum disease, diabetes or a history of frequent decay, we may suggest every three to four months.

  • Routine cleaning and urgent care are safe, and the second trimester is usually the most comfortable time. Tell us you are pregnant at the start so we can adjust the treatment plan and avoid unnecessary X-rays.

  • By the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short and friendly — the point is to make the clinic feel ordinary rather than frightening.
